    General Requirements

Landscape Architects are required to earn 24 structured Continuing Education hours per 2-year license period in order to renew their license.

At least 16 of the hours must be certified as health, safety, and welfare (HSW) topics.

It is the licensee's responsibility to track their continuing education activities. Records are not sent to the Board by the AIA, ASLA, or any other organization.

    Renewal

The completion of these hours is a condition of renewal of the landscape architect's registration.

All landscape architect licenses expire every other year, on December 31st of even number years.  Landscape architects must submit a Renewal Application along with a renewal fee prior to the expiration of the license.

An application for renewal or restoration of a license may not be submitted unless the continuing education requirement has been completely fulfilled or the registrant has been exempted from the continuing education requirement by the Board.

Landscape Architects newly licensed by examination by the State of Ohio are exempt from the continuing education requirements for the initial period of licensure only.  This does not apply to reciprocal licenses.

    Contact Hour

A contact hour is at least fifty minutes of participation in an approved course or activity.

    Carry-Over

Excess credit may not be carried over from one renewal period to another.

    Self-reported activities are not accepted

The Landscape Architects Board does not accept self-reported continuing education activities.
