    Gateway Film Center

Join us for a special screening of Citizen Jane: Battle for the City, a post-film discussion with Columbus’ leading architects, designers and planners, and reception at the World of Beer Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center, 1550 N. High St.

We will also screen Stories of Architecture (Part Two), a short film produced by Tim Lai, AIA, principal of Tim Lai ArchitecT and Center board member. The film highlights the architectural significance of Orange Barrel Media headquarters, North Market and Columbus Museum of Art.

Citizen Jane is Director Matt Tyrnauer’s (Valentino: The Last Emperor) spirited documentary about Jane Jacobs and her fight for New York City against developer Robert Moses. Though the battle lines were drawn some 50 years ago, the themes are still timely and relevant for contemporary society and those who care about their urban cores.

The film also ties directly to this year’s Design Week theme: Changing Columbus: Design Makes a Different. As we explore and celebrate the developments, planning and expansion that are continually elevating the status of Columbus, what are the takeaways for us and our city from Jane Jacobs?

The cost for the film, discussion and reception is $25 per person; $15 for students. Includes movie, beverages and hors d’oeuvres.

We hope to see you October 18 at Gateway. Click here to see Citizen Jane: Battle for the City trailer.

The Center’s annual Design Week feature events to create an awareness of and foster appreciation for design and its importance to Columbus’ economy and livability. Visit the Design Week webpage for more details about all of our Design Week events.

“… Pulses with contemporary resonance. … It’s a finely woven tapestry that feels as relevant and alive as the place you live.” – Variety
