    Speakers | Adam Gross, FAIA and Jonathan Ceci, PLA, LEED AP BD+C, Principals at Ayers Saint Gross

    Adam Gross, FAIA, Principal, Ayers Saint Gross

    Adam's Bio: Adam Gross, FAIA is a Principal at Ayers Saint Gross, providing the broad design direction for the firm and working in close collaboration with clients. His goal as an architect and planner is to engage people and places to create uplifting designs that enrich the world. With a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University, Adam has nearly 40 years of experience in urban planning and architectural design, having worked across the United States and abroad. His visionary yet implementable urban master plans have directly impacted cities such as Baltimore, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Providence, Indianapolis, and Miami. His university clients include Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, UNC Chapel Hill, Emory University, and Duke University.

    He has written and lectured extensively on urban design, architecture, and master planning and served on many award juries. Adam was named an “Influential Marylander” by The Daily Record in 2015. He has taught at several universities, most recently as the Fay Jones Chair in Architecture at the University of Arkansas and the Kea Distinguished Professor of Architecture at University of Maryland. In his never-ending quest for knowledge, Adam was a visiting scholar at The American Academy in Rome in 2013. 

    Jonathan Ceci, PLA, LEED AP BD+C, Principal, Ayers Saint Gross

    Jonathan's Bio: Jonathan Ceci, PLA, LEED AP BD+C is a principal at Ayers Saint Gross and the director of its landscape architecture studio. He is responsible for creating and preserving vibrant landscapes in cities and on the campuses of colleges and universities across the country. Jonathan is currently leading the redesign of the National Aquarium’s waterfront campus in downtown Baltimore.  The first phase will transform a slip of water at the heart of the campus from an anaerobic environment with regular fish-kills to an aquatic refuge with a half-acre of floating salt marsh.

    Jonathan’s work demonstrates an appreciation of regional distinctions through native materials, site-specific plant palettes and local landscape typologies. He is committed to sustainability and design excellence in every type of setting, from historic to contemporary. In the years since he got his MLA at Harvard GSD, Jonathan has remained engaged professionally and academically through speaking engagements at ASLA as well as through lecturing and jurying student work at Louisiana State University, University of Maryland, Morgan State University, and University of Delaware.

    Speaker | Forbes Lipschitz, Assistant Professor - Landscape Architecture Section, Knowlton School, The Ohio State University

    Forbes' Bio: Forbes Lipschitz is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University. She teaches both studio and seminar courses in landscape planning, geographic information systems, and representation. As a faculty affiliate with the Initiative for Food and Agricultural Transformation, her current research explores the role of geospatial analysis and representation in rethinking North American agricultural territories. She received her Master in Landscape Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a BA in environmental aesthetics from Pomona College in Claremont, California.

    Speaker | Paul Bierman-Lytle, Integrated Sustainability Solutions Practice Leader, OHM Advisors

    Paul's Bio: Paul is a dedicated and results-driven architect with a strong focus on integrated green infrastructure, high performing buildings, and smart communities based on sustainability solutions that are cost effective. Paul is lauded for alternative thinking and highly inventive design and developments addressing economic sustainability issues.

    He is a recipient of a Leadership Award in Organizational Excellence from the American Institute of Architects, 2008, a Presidential Citation from the United States Green Building Council, 2009; noted as ‘a founder of green design in the USA’, appointed Director of Materials, Systems, and Technologies, HRH Prince of Wales International Hotel Environment Initiative (IHEI), London, UK, 1998-2001; delegate to World Business Council on Sustainable Development, Geneva; sustainability consultant to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Al Nayhan bin Zayed, Crown Prince, United Arab Emirates (2010-2013); and former V.P. Executive Director of Sustainable Development, CH2M Hill. Paul received his Master of Architecture from Yale University and is a licensed architect in Michigan, California, and Connecticut.

    Speaker | David Rubin, Founding Principal, DAVID RUBIN Land Collective


    David's Bio: David is the Founding Principal of LAND COLLECTIVE and recipient of the 2011-2012 Rome Prize in Landscape Architecture from the American Academy in Rome. His visionary contribution to the field in “empathy-driven design” is a hallmark of the studio, gaining increasing notoriety for fusing issues of social justice in cities with excellence in the design of public spaces. His work has received awards and honors from the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Institute of Architects.
